McDonald's Saudi Arabia has launched a bold campaign that removes menu boards from its restaurants, turning a familiar customer experience into a statement about long-standing brand loyalty. The initiative, titled Menu-less Makeover, aims to highlight how well customers know their favourite McDonald's meals after more than three decades in the Kingdom.

A campaign built on customer familiarity

Instead of displaying burgers, meals and pricing behind the counter, participating restaurants feature a simple message encouraging customers to order without referring to a menu. The campaign is based on the idea that loyal customers already know exactly what they want before they reach the counter.

According to the brand, the concept reflects the strong emotional connection McDonald's has built with consumers in Saudi Arabia over the years, positioning its signature menu items as part of customers' everyday routines.

Outdoor and digital channels work together

The campaign extends beyond restaurants through an integrated media strategy that combines outdoor advertising, digital platforms and social media. Billboards positioned near McDonald's drive-thru locations carry messages that reinforce the campaign's central idea, while online content encourages audiences to engage with the concept across digital channels.

The initiative also gained traction on social media through the #McMenulessChallenge, where customers recorded themselves placing orders from memory and shared the videos online. The user-generated content helped expand the campaign's reach and encouraged further participation.

Campaign delivers measurable results

McDonald's reported that the campaign generated an immediate business impact, with restaurant footfall increasing by 37% during the activation period. The combination of in-store experience, outdoor media and digital engagement helped drive customer participation while reinforcing the brand's long-standing relationship with consumers in the Saudi market.

Celebrating a long-standing brand connection

Rather than introducing a new product or promotional offer, the Menu-less Makeover campaign focuses on celebrating customer familiarity with the brand. By removing one of the most recognisable elements of the restaurant experience, McDonald's transformed a simple operational change into a creative demonstration of brand loyalty.

The campaign illustrates how a straightforward idea, supported by integrated outdoor advertising, social media and digital storytelling, can generate widespread engagement while delivering measurable business results.
